Рым-гайка используется для создания точек крепления грузоподъёмных приспособлений (крюков, стальных канатов, такелажных скоб). Основная функция — подъём и перемещение тяжёлых деталей или оборудования. Эксплуатация строго допускается только при соблюдении номинальной нагрузки, превышение нагрузки запрещено. Применяется для монтажа и демонтажа узлов экскаваторов и подъёмных кранов, адаптирована к работе в полевых условиях, а также используется при подъёме и транспортировке стальных строительных конструкций и мостовых элементов.
